BANGALORE: Traffic policeman M R Muralidhar of Yeshwantpur traffic police station was suspended for allegedly receiving bribe from a car driver while on a routine check for drunken driving.Muralidhar along with the PSI M R Srinivas, was checking for drunken driving cases near Yeshwantpur Metro Cash N Carry shop on November 19. Meanwhile, Muralidhar stopped Asif Anwar, who was coming on a vehicle. Though the alcohol consumption rate was below the permissible amount, Muralidhar allegedly told Anwar that he had to go to court and would be jailed. Also, he allegedly demanded `500 to not book a case against Anwar, without Anwar committing any offense. He allegedly took `500.The victim complained the matter to the Additional Commissioner of Police (traffic and security), Dr T A Saleem, through e-mail and the latter ordered for an inquiry into the matter by an Assistant Commissioner of Police. As the allegation made was prima facie proved by the investigation, Saleem has ordered for the suspension of the errant cop.
