New Delhi: In a followup to the allegations made by an Air India airhostess that two pilots were involved in a mid-air scuffle with her during a flight, Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) will now be going through the Air India cockpit brawl report.
The regulator wants to find out if the aircraft’s safety was compromised when a flight steward exchanged blows with the pilots as the aircraft was crusing at 30,000 feet.
An internal inquiry into the scuffle between cockpit and cabin crew of the aircraft says the cockpit was never left unmanned. But was safety compromised?
Meanwhile, experts say during the fistfight, there was a chance of any person falling onto the control panels thereby damaging it. The aircraft's safety would have been severely compromised.
CNN IBN has learnt that the DGCA has asked for the report and launched its own inquiry. Air India could be penalised for endangering passenger lives. If guilty, the pilots could lose their licence.
Meanwhile, the air hostess involved in the scuffle has now complained to the National Commission of Women (NCW), alleging abuse.
NCW, Chairperson Girija Vyas said that the NCW would be writing a letter to Air India demanding a probe into the incident seeking appropriate justice.
The Air India probe is still to fix responsibility. It wants access to the aircraft's cockpit voice recorder to nail the guilty. Some passengers are also likely to be questioned.
