HYDERABAD: One of the 86 owners of the plush villas in Emaar Boulder Hills township is understood to have turned approver before the Central Bureau of Investigation which is probing the Emaar Properties scam, giving the agency the much required breakthrough in the case.Simultaneously, the CBI is gearing up for a second round of questioning of at least 15 owners, who are mostly businessmen and who gave evasive or cryptic replies to the agency in the first round of questioning.Sources disclosed to Express that one of the owners (name withheld) spilled the beans before the investigating agency, saying that he did pay cash over and above the cheque component, allegedly to Emaar officials.It was alleged that Emaar officials had taken cash from several buyers, which actually should have been credited to the state government, causing loss to the exchequer to the tune of several hundred crores of rupees.It is learnt that the owner also told the CBI that he was in the knowledge that several other villa owners had paid cash over and above the cheque payment.This development, according to sources, has come at a time when the CBI is struggling to get leads in the Emaar case. The second round of questioning is likely to commence anytime.
