BANGALORE: A 28-year-old homemaker died after an accidental fire broke out due to leakage of LPG. The incident was reported near Chikkabommasandra in Yelahanka on Monday. The deceased has been identified as Shobha while her husband Subramani, a mason, and son Nandakumar have sustained burn injuries. According to the police, Shobha was cooking around 8.30 pm, when the fire broke out. All the three members of the family sustained injuries. Neighbours doused the fire and shifted the trio to Victoria Hospital. Shobha succumbed to injuries in the wee hours of Tuesday.“It is suspected that the leakage of gas was through a damaged pipe attached to the cylinder. However, the exact reason has to be investigated,” the police said.Yelahanka New Town police registered a case.Woman Murdered and Set on Fire An unidentified woman aged around 25 years was allegedly murdered and set on fire by miscreants at a vacant land in Byrapur Thandya of Doddaballapur on the outskirts of the city. Locals reported the matter to Belavangala police on Tuesday morning and it is suspected that the murder may have taken place on Monday.The police suspected that the victim was a newly-wed woman as bridal bangles and other articles were found on her body. It is also suspected that the woman was murdered elsewhere and the miscreants brought the body to Byrapur Thandya and set it on fire to ensure that the identity of the body could not be recognised.“Some clothes of a woman were found in Kadabyadarahalli, which is close by to the spot. The victim’s skull will be sent to Forensic Science Laboratory to prepare the sketch of the victim,” said the Belavangala police.Share Broker Duped An unidentified man duped a share broker and escaped with Rs 2.5 lakh cash that was kept inside a car parked in front of Syndicate Bank’s Doddakallasandra branch in Subramanyapura on Tuesday. The victim, Rajagopal, a resident of Doddakallasandra, had gone to the bank to deposit cash.He reportedly told his car driver Shivakumar, to bring tender coconut. While the driver left, Rajagopal waited outside the car. Meanwhile, an unidentified man approached him and told him that his money had fallen. Rajagopal, who saw a few notes of `10 on the ground, started to pick up the notes. Diverting his attention, the miscreant took the bag that contained cash and fled.Rajagopal filed a case with Subramanyapura police, who are investigating.
