The suggestions and recommendations of Federation of Residents’ Associations Thiruvananthapuram (FRAT) will be considered while implementing the capital city development project, said Health and Devaswom Minister V S Sivakumar.
The minister was speaking after inaugurating a discussion on capital city development organised by the FRAT as part of its half-yearly meeting.
The works on the Vizhinjam container terminal project will begin soon after the environmental clearance is received. The High Court Chief Justice had been apprised of the government decision favouring the establishment of a High Court Bench in the capital. The government expects a favourable decision from the judges’ collegium in this regard, he said.
The second phase of the capital city development project will be completed on a time-bound basis in association with the TRIDA. A model plant for garbage treatment plant will be installed in the city soon, he said. The minister sought the wholehearted cooperation of FRAT in the garbage disposal activities.
MPs Shashi Tharoor and A Sampath, Mayor K Chandrika, Residents Apex Council of Kerala state president Hashim Parakkadan, BJP state secretary Padmakumar, FRAT president Vennikulam George Varghese, general secretary Paraniyam Devakumar, S Satheeshachandran Nair, Sugandhi K Nair, K Sukumaran and Jagathy Sivan Thampy spoke.
The meeting also felicitated snake catcher Vava Suresh and top scorers in SSLC and Plus-II examinations.
