BANGALORE: The sleuths of the Organised Crime Wing of the CCB arrested three persons for allegedly offering a dental seat and cheating the student of Rs 21.25 lakh. The accused Nagaraju (42), Anand (45) and K G Basavaiah (39) were arrested in the connection with the incident.According to the police, Singam, a native of Tamil Nadu, filed a case in Pulikeshinagar police station alleging that the accused had cheated Mahalakshmi, the complainant’s relative, by promising a BDS seat in Dr Ambedkar Dental College. Mahalakshmi’s father had paid the accused Rs 18 lakh in cash and a demand draft of Rs 3.25 lakh in May 2011.But, the accused had further demanded Rs 42 lakh saying that the fee structures were revised. Interrogations revealed that the accused issued fake eligibility letters.“As students trusted them, they paid the accused to get dental seats. The accused made use of this opportunity and cheated them.”
