GHMC commissioner, M T Krishna Babu on Saturday said the garbage that was generated during the Ganesh immersion would be cleared by Sunday afternoon. He said adequate men and machinery are pressed into service to weed out garbage on a war footing basis.

Krishna Babu along with senior GHMC officials on Saturday inspected the Tank Bund and the NTR Marg in order to make necessary arrangements for lifting of garbage and debris material. With Telangana March scheduled on Sunday and COP-11 summit starting from October 1 removal of the garbage now tops the priority of GHMC.

Commissioner said that the garbage that got accumulated due to idol immersion would be cleared and roads would wear a neat and clean look by Sunday afternoon. Interacting with the media persons at Tank Bund, he said due to security reasons and as per the directions of the chief secretary, GHMC has made necessary arrangements to clear garbage from early hours of Sunday.

The GHMC in coordination with police and various government departments has organised additional five cranes with platforms to take up the sanitation works.
