THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Governor M O H Farook on Wednesday presented the Global Excellence Awards instituted by the Kerala Kalakendram to KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala and film director Priyadarshan at a function held on the Kanakakkunnu Palace grounds here on Wednesday. Union Minister of State for Consumer Affairs Prof K V Thomas, Finance Minister K M Mani, Industries Minister P K Kunhalikutty and Former Additional Chief Secretary Dr D Babu Paul attended the function. In his acceptance speech, Chennithala said that he viewed the honour as a boost to his political activities. While director Priyadarshan said that the award was a different one for him as it is in recognition to his contributions to the film industry. The Governor also presented the Global Honour Awards of Kalakendram to Siddharth Balachandran, managing director of Bumga Group Dubai, T A Sunder Menon, chairman, Sun Group International, Sharjah, and C A Manu Nair, CEO, Emirates Chartered Accountants, Dubai. Kalakendram general secretary K Ananda Kumar welcomed the gathering. Dr D Babu Paul delivered the felicitation and N Jayachandran proposed the vote of thanks.
