TIRUMALA: Resplendent in invaluable gem-studded gold ornaments and fragrant flowers, Lord Malayappa Swamy in the form of Murali Krishna rode ‘Chinna Sesha Vahanam’ on the morning of the second day of the ongoing annual Srivari Brahmotsavams here on Thursday.Devotees forgot to bat their eyelids when the Lord riding the five hooded serpent Vasuki, went in a procession along the four mada streets.Such was the enchantment of the Lord, who sat majestically carrying Pillanagrovi (flute) in his hand. Lord Brahma, the creator himself in an invisible form led the procession from the front in his wooden Brahma Ratham. Tastefully decorated elephants and horses followed the Brahma Ratham, while the air was permeated with divine musical notes from Sannai Melam and Pancha Vaidyams.Vaishnava Pandits led by Pedda Jeeyar went along the procession chanting verses from the scriptures. Bhajana Brundams in their colourful costumes performed dances much to the delight of thousands of devotees witnessing the procession.As many as 24 cultural troupes, including folk artistes and ‘bhajana brundams’ participated in the procession. TTD executive officer LV Subramanyam danced along with the members of different cultural troupes during the procession.Brahmotsavams Planned Twice a YearInstead of an annual Brahmotsavam of Lord Venkateswara, how about two Brahmotsavams a year? This is what Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams is mulling over. The idea was mooted by TTD Board of Trustees chairman K Bapiraju during a meeting with executive officer LV Subrahmanyam.
