CHENNAI: Two load men handling cargo at the city airport, who were reported missing after going to the St Thomas Mount police station, were traced to the office of the Central Bureau of Investigation on Saturday.Police said loaders Pandian (43) and Karna alias Karnan (24) of Kannan Colony had gone to the St Thomas Mount police station on Friday evening to get police clearance certificate as they needed to get it every six months to give it to the airport authority.On Saturday, friends and relatives of the two arrived at the police station and said that both the men had not returned home after they left to get the certificate from the station.Police replied that the men left the station after obtaining the certificate but the relatives had allegedly insisted that the police register a complaint and conduct an investigation. Police then filed an FIR and made attempts to trace the loaders’ mobile phone signals and they found it at Teynampet and later at Besant Nagar.Police said they went to Besant Nagar and were surprised to find the signals showing the office of the CBI. They then found that the loaders were picked up by officials of the narcotics department in the CBI office for an inquiry in a drug deal case, soon after the men stepped out of the St Thomas Mount police station on Friday evening, police said.The St Thomas Mount police informed the relatives of the loaders that the men were safe.
