PUDUCHERRY: The All India Namathu Rajyam Congress (AINRC) MLA G Nehru made a surprise visit to the Puducherry Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) reservation counter and the new bus stand on Friday and made an on-the-spot assessment of public amenities here.The MLA found the staff at the reservation counter at the bus stand was not available for some time. After a five minute wait, the employee turned up and when asked by the MLA, he said he had gone to the washroom, on which the MLA gave the employee some sound advice before leaving the place.Interacting with the shop-owners and pavement dwellers, Nehru urged them to promptly pay the required fee for utilising the place. He said the fee collected would be used for development and would ultimately benefit them and help their business grow.Stressing the need for clean rest rooms for tourists, Nehru asked officials to remove the dirty public convenience located at the centre of the bus stand and relocate it in a suitable place.
