MP flays decision to ban vendors on trains

KOCHI: P Rajeev MP has come out strongly against the Railway Ministry’s decision banning vendors who move around selling food on trains and railway platforms. "Since majority of the trains do not have proper pantry services, this decision would affect the passengers, who make use of the services of the vendors’’, he stated.Also, it would affect the South Indian passengers as only North Indian food is  available on most trains. Apart from that, there is a general complaint that food is available only to those who make early orders on the trains.The MP also stated that the decision would also affect the livelihood of vendors. Earlier, a similar decision taken by the Railways to take away the licences of the vendors was strongly oppposed by the MPs.
