‘No Relevant Evidence Or Info’: MEA Reiterates After Canada Arrests 3 Indians In Sikh Separatist’s Killing
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) reiterated on Thursday that India has not received any “specific or relevant evidence” from Canada regarding the killing of Sikh separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, for which three Indian nationals have been arrested. Nijjar, who was designated as a terrorist by India, was killed in Surrey last June. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau claimed in September that Indian government agents were involved in Nijjar’s shooting. However, India strongly rejected these allegations and asked Canada to furnish proof. Air India Express has agreed to withdraw termination letters issued to 25 cabin crew, news agency PTI reported quoting sources on Wednesday. Earlier in the day, the airline terminated the contract of that at least 25 senior crew members who “reported sick” a day ago, even as the carrier continued to reel from flight cancellations 24 hours after the crisis began. A Germany-registered chartered flight carrying Indian passengers from Dubai was denied entry as tourists in Jamaica’s Kingston by local authorities, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed on Thursday. The chartered flight, carrying over 200 Indian passengers, arrived in Kingston from Dubai on May 2 for tourism. Despite having prior hotel bookings, Jamaican authorities deemed them “unsatisfactory” as tourists.
