SAP camp personnel have launched a scheme, Annam SAP, to distribute food packets to the poor patients of RCC

In a noble initiative, the police personnel at the Special Armed Police (SAP) camp, Peroorkada, have launched a scheme, ‘Annam SAP’, to distribute food packets to the poor patients of Regional Cancer Centre (RCC) here.

One hundred packets of food, prepared at the police mess, will be distributed to outpatients and bystanders of inpatients coming from financially poor backgrounds.

“Every day, a team of police personnel will arrive at RCC from the Peroorkada camp by afternoon and 100 coupons would be distributed prior to distributing food packets. The food packets would be carried to the RCC in a police vehicle. The scheme was launched as part of various service activities conducted by the Police Officers’ Association and Police Association,” said P T Koshy, secretary of Police Officers’ Association, who is a Sub-Inspector at SAP camp.

It would cost around Rs 70,000 a month to distribute food under the ‘Annam SAP’ scheme. The 1,400 police personnel of the camp are contributing the money to mobilise the amount required for the scheme.

“The idea came out more or less unanimously from the SAP police personnel and each and every one of them took it to their hearts,” said Koshy, who is in charge of carrying out the scheme.

The scheme was launched on Saturday at a function at RCC inaugurated by ADGP (Training) R Sreelekha.
