CHENNAI: Expressing happiness over the pace of investigations in the New Delhi blast which seriously wounded an Israeli diplomat in February, Consul General of Israel in Mumbai, Orna Sagiv, reiterated her country’s stand that the Iranian angle to the incident must be probed “seriously”. Speaking on the sidelines of an event here, she said that the people who had been arrested or had warrants against them in the case turned out to be Iranians, proving Israel’s contention. A magnetic bomb went off in an Israeli diplomat Tal Yehoshua’s car in the national capital on February 13. The comment comes in the background of media reports that suggested that India was now pushing for the extradition of an Iranian national suspected to be the prime conspirator of the blast. Orna Sagiv said that she was “happy” with the progress of the investigations in which the agencies have zeroed in on specific suspects. “We said all the time that we believe that Iran is behind it. We believe that it is the same in Bangkok and other places and the recent arrests have proved this,” she said, adding that her country would wait for the final report of the investigations before thinking of the future course of action.
