Probe sought into police action

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:  CPM district secretary Kadakampally Surendran demanded an investigation into Friday’s police action against DYFI and SFI activists here, by suspending DCP Rajpal Meena. Inaugurating an LDF sit-in before the Secretariat, he said that Saturday’s hartal was a ‘’natural public response’’ to police brutality, he said. He also criticised the police for entering the University College campus and attacking students. ‘’The Chief Minister and the DGP should  take appropriate action,’’ he said. The DYFI and BJP also staged protest marches to the Secretariat, the latter demanding an immediate roll-back of the petrol price hike.
