ANANTAPUR: After suspending as many as 15 railway employees following the Hampi Express tragedy, which claimed 25 lives at Penukonda railway station on May 22, the railway investigating officials transferred 12 assistant station managers on Saturday.Charging the 12 persons of behaving irresponsibly while discharging their duties and failing to maintain the inter-locking system protocol effectively, the railway officials transferred the 12 ASMs to neighbouring Nanded division. It is learnt that action will also be taken against some more employees, including Guntakal DRM Tejpaul Singh.District collector V Durga Das presented certificates to as many as 16 staff of 108 emergency vehicles recognising their actions in rushing injured to hospitals.Speaking on the occasion, the collector said that the 108 staff had immediately swung into action following train mishap in the early hours of Tuesday last and rendered service and saved many lives, by rushing them to hospital in time.DRO M Sudarshan Reddy, 108 service coordinator Anjan Reddy and others were present on the occasion.
