New Delhi: Detective Byomkesh Bakshi is an integral part of the people who celebrated their childhood in early 90s. The super success of the show based on the life and times of a character created by Bengali writer Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay. Basu Chatterjee created a TV show based on Bandyopadhyay's work which turned out to be an engaging experience.
Byomkesh and his friend Ajit kept the viewers entertained with their witty investigations for 34 episodes which began in the year 1993 and culminated in 1997. It used to be aired on DD, but later some other channels also telecast it.
Rajit Kapur played detective Byomkesh Bakshi while KK Raina was seen as his close friend Ajit. Many prominent theatre and film actors were featured in different episodes of the series.
Late Bengali and Hindi film director Rituparno Ghosh's last film 'Satyanweshi' was also based on detective Byomkesh Bakshi. This time Sujoy Ghosh played the detective.
Now, Bollywood director Dibakar Banerjee is coming up with a film on the maverick detective. Dibaka's venture is called 'Detective Byomkesh Bakshi' and it features Sushant Singh Rajput in the lead role.
