PUDUCHERRY: Three months after cyclone Thane hit Puducherry, the government issued expenditure sanction for providing relief to fishermen whose boats were damaged in the cyclone.As per orders by the government, an expenditure sanction of Rs 11.72 crore has been issued for compensation to 716 beneficiaries for damage to their to their registered mechanised boats, FRP motorised and non-motorised craft and one totally damaged FRP motorised craft. According to the government orders, the relief will be made by the government on January 19, but certain work will have to be undertaken in addition to asset creation by way of modernisation. Upgradation of fishing fleet will have to be undertaken by beneficiaries prior to launching and subsequent release of stage payment.The Puducherry government accorded an expenditure sanction of Rs 1.92 crore for extension of relief to 96 totally damaged FRP motorised crafts.
