New Delhi: Rotation seems to be the new mantra of Hockey India as they chose to give Sardar Singh a well deserved rest, while naming Danish Mujtaba as the India skipper for the upcoming Sultan Azlan Shah Cup in Malaysia.
The 18-member squad will also be without reliable defender VR Raghunath, who too has been rested. In place of Raghunath, goalkeeper PR Sreejesh will be Mujtaba's deputy while Yuvraj Walmiki continues to stay out after not being named in India's FIH Hockey World League squad as well. Penalty corner specialist Sandeep Singh stays a standby while midfielder Gurmail Singh and striker Akashdeep Singh have been brought back into the first 18 after being named standbys for the FIH World League.
Gurjinder Singh comes in to replace Raghunath as a defender, but forward Malak Singh, who is among the 18 for FIH World League, has been rotated and will be on stand-by for Malaysia.
