THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:  CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan said that the Supreme Court Order on inter-linking of rivers of Kerala with a river in Tamil Nadu, if implemented, could lead to severe drought in five districts in the state. “To tackle the ill-effects of the Supreme Court Order, the government should hold talks with all political parties in the state,” he said.  But the State Government, which had been complacent in handling the issue in the Supreme Court, is propagating the view that it would not affect the State. He also said that the Chief Minister and the Revenue Minister were cheating the state.  Pinarayi said that in the past, the LDF Government had engaged senior lawyers such as Harish Salve to handle the state’s case in the Supreme Court. But this time, a new lawyer has appeared for the state, who has been appointed as standing council. He had not get enough time to study the case.  In the event of the implementation of the Supreme Court Order, the Pampa-Achankovil-Vypar link, would ultimately affect the interests of the state.
