THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Industries Minister and IUML leader P K Kunhalikutty was quizzed by the special investigation team here on Thursday in connection with the two decade-old ice cream parlour sex scandal case. The team recorded the Minister’s statement for nearly four hours from 3.45 p.m. at his official residence, Lyndhurst. The team asked the Minister questions from a list of written questions they brought and also supplementary questions based on the Minister’s answer. This was following revelations made by K A Rauf, the brother-in-law of the Minister, that the latter had influenced witnesses, officials, including judges and investigative officers, to sabotage the highly controversial ice cream parlour case. Rauf had told the Kozhikode First Class Judicial Magistrate Court that Kunhalikutty had influenced the judges and the then AG with the intention of sabotaging the case. Kunhalikutty had not been questioned by the police team after the allegations made by Rauf. The team asked Kunhalikutty about Rauf’s allegations in detail. It is learnt that the Minister had denied all the allegations which he termed as part of the attempts to tarnish his image and annihilate him politically.  He alleged that it was an attempt by Rauf to blackmail him.  The questioning of the Minister is considered to be the last in a series which included more than hundred persons. The probe team has to submit the report to the High Court on December 22. When contacted by ‘Express’, Kunhalikutty declined to comment on the issue. The team included two SPs and two DySPs besides ADGP Vinson M Paul, the head of the team.
