THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Thiruvananthapuram Corporation Council has condemned the recent incidents that put the Mayor and the Councillor at the receiving end from the security officials on different occasions. The Council, on Saturday, decided to recommend to the State Government to take serious note of the discrimination shown to elected representatives of the Corporation at various places from various quarters. Introducing the issue in the Council, BJP’s P Asok Kumar said that the Mayor was barred from entering the area where the President was being accorded a farewell by the state during her recent visit. The protocol officer had to be summoned and the mistake corrected. ‘’This is not the first time that this has happened. The Mayor has been insulted on various occasions, the Council should strongly express its resentment over the issue,” he said.
