Talks on Kudumbashree issue to continue on Tuesday

The talks between the State Government and the LDF on the Kudmbashree issue on Monday remained inconclusive with both sides agreeing to continue their discussions on Tuesday.

Both the sides expressed their views on the ongoing agitation by the Kudumbashree activists and decided to have an elaborate discussion.

Social Welfare Minister M K Muneer, who represented the government, said that the government only had a positive approach towards Kudumbashree.

The Social Welfare Minister said that they could reach a consensus on some issues and the Chief Minister would be apprised of the discussions.

Earlier, briefing the decisions of the LDF meet held here, convener Vaikom Viswan said that the LDF will take over the agitation staged by the Kudumbashree workers in front of the Secretariat here against the State Government over the allotment of Central funds to Janasreee Mission.

In case the discussion fails, the LDF will extend the agitation to the district centres, he said.

Kudumbashree workers would take out protest marches in front of the District Collectorates and District Panchayat offices. If the government fails to address the issue, the LDF leaders would start agitations, including observance of indefinite fast in front of the Secretariat, Viswan said.

Vaikom Viswan said that the LDF wanted the government to withdraw the fund allotted to Janasree Mission and conduct a probe into the financial dealings of the Janasree director and also probe the financial sources of the Janasree Micro Fin Ltd.
