BANGALORE: The medical records of Abdul Kareem Lala Telgi, the kingpin of the multi-crore fake stamp paper racket were submitted in the Karnataka High Court on Monday.In the report, the chairman and members of the medical board of Victoria Hospital, Bangalore, have certified that Telgi is suffering from chronic kidney disease stage III due to diabetes mellitus and hypertension. He has had two episodes of acute chronic kidney disease, once in Many 2009 due to drug induced allergic interstitial nephritis and another in March 2011 due to urinary tract infection. He also has an exopytic cyst in the left kidney and grade I prostatomegaly, according to the report.Telgi has been advised to control his blood pressure, sugar and lipid levels and avoid Nephrotoxic drugs and dehydration. Telgi’s counsel Shankarappa stated that his client has served maximum sentence. The High Court had convicted him for ten years and he has, so far, spent nine years and nine months. The medical board has taken two-and-a-half months to file the report, which has already been delayed. He cannot move from one place to another for the past several months and is on a wheel chair, the counsel submitted to the Hight Court.Further he stated that, there are only three months left to complete his jail term. Good atmosphere is very important in his last days, he said and requested the court grant him bail soon.Justice V Jagannathan adjourned the hearing of the counter arguments to August 3. Telgi, who claims to be suffering from diabetes, HIV and other diseases, has sought bail on medical grounds to enable him to get treatment in a hospital of his choice and get his daughter married off as his wife is not keeping well. Following the petition, a medical board was constituted in May by the Victoria Hospital. Telgi appeared before the board and specialists then referred him for further investigation to Nephro Urology Centre, Jayadeva and Minto Hospitals.
