Mumbai: Fourth-seeded Dmitry Tursunov of Russia ousted top-seeded Tommy Robredo of Spain 7-6 (2), 3-6, 6-1 in the Mumbai Open on Saturday and will play third-seeded Tomas Berdych of the Czech Republic in the final.
Berdych eased into Sunday's title match beating Austria's Stefan Koubek 7-6 (2), 6-2.
After dropping the second set, Tursunov surged to a 5-0 lead in the decider.
"Frankly, I didn't play well enough to win, but Tommy wasn't playing well," Tursunov said. "It's tough to be happy when you're not playing well, but sometimes you win ugly."
Berdych served 11 aces against Koubek to enter his second final of the year. He lost the Halle final to Roger Federer on the eve of Wimbledon.
"I've got reason to be pleased with the way things have gone, it's been a good week for me," Berdych said. "I haven't lost a single set going into the final."
Berdych has two career titles, and a victory on Sunday would help him crack the top 10 rankings for the first time.
Tursunov, at a career-high world No 22 ranking, would break into the top 20 for the first time with his maiden title.
Berdych won their only clash a month ago in the US Open third round.
