Tamil Nadu saw the most significant increase in the number of voters. Tamil Nadu, which has 4,59,50,620 registered electors in 2011, jumped to 5,79,15,075 in 2016.

Dates for Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Assam, Kerala and Puducherry were announced on Friday. Assam and West Bengal will go to polls in multiple phases whereas Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry will vote in a single phase.

The electoral rolls has been revised for the existing seats of all the four states and a union territory.

Tamil Nadu saw the most significant increase in the number of voters. Tamil Nadu, which has 4,59,50,620 registered electors in 2011, jumped to 5,79,15,075 in 2016.

Similarly, the number of electors in West Bengal rose to 6,55,46,101 from 5,60,91,973 in 2011.

In Kerala, the number of electors has increased to 2,56,08,720 from earlier 2,29,40,408.

Assam saw a rise in the number of electors to 1,98,66,496 from 1,81,45,914 in 2011.

Puducherry witnessed a rise from 8,05,124 in 2011 to 9,27,003 in 2016. Assam goes to polls on April 4 and April 11.

In West Bengal, polls will be held in six phases. In the first phase, voting will take place on two dates April 4 and April 11 as the seats fall under the Naxal affected areas.
