Watch: Fans Cheer As BTS' Jin Kicks Off 2024 Paris Olympics Torch Relay
BTS member Jin was seen near the Louvre Museum in Paris with the Olympic flame.

BTS consistently makes headlines for all the right reasons, and this time, it is member Jin who has made the ARMY proud. Kim Seokjin, popularly known as Jin, made history by becoming South Korea’s official torchbearer at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Amid loud cheers, the BTS star carried the Olympic torch to the Louvre Pyramid Museum in Paris. Surrounded by fans and officials, Jin began the torch relay as the first torchbearer on July 15, holding the Olympic flame in his right hand. He has now become the first Korean singer to carry the Olympic Torch overseas.

BTS ARMY and other fans of the singer quickly began to reshare Jin’s photos and videos. “Kim Seokjin made history today. So incredibly proud of him. Torch relay by Jin,” wrote a fan while sharing a glimpse of the occasion.

Sharing a video clip of Jin, another fan wrote, “Jin carries the Olympic Torch along the Louvre for 2024 Paris Summer Olympics.”

Before Jin started his run, the organisers surprised the gathering by playing Jin’s viral song Super Tuna. As fans cheered for the BTS member, he could not control himself but burst out laughing.

On July 2, reports claimed that Jin had been chosen as one of the torchbearers for the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics. The Olympic sponsors and organisers selected the Awake singer to make a significant contribution to the community through his musical work as a member of BTS. A day later, BIGHIT MUSIC confirmed the news on weaverse.

The Paris Olympic torch was reportedly lit in Greece and reached France last month. It will travel through over 400 locations and cover about 12,000 kilometres, before arriving at the opening ceremony on July 27. Around 11,000 torchbearers are participating, including Jin, notable athletes, Holocaust survivors, relatives of Nice terror attack victims, astronauts and sanitation workers across the world.

The 2024 Paris Summer Olympics games will be held from July 27 to August 11 and will feature more than 15,000 athletes from 206 countries who will compete in 329 events across 32 different sports.

According to the official Olympics website, this year’s games will home 10,000 Olympic torchbearers, with celebrations taking place in over 400 towns and cities across France and its five overseas regions.
