One year after a complaint was filed in Chennai against Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan and eight others, the nine have been booked under Section 420 of the IPC. The complainant, Sun Enterprises Limited, entered into a stockist agreement with Extreme Perfumes which had several brands including including HRX perfumes for which Hrithik Roshan was the brand ambassador in 2014. The complainant claimed that the non-moving stocks were returned to the firm and this led to a loss of Rs 21 lakh for the company.
Ganesh, Complainant's advocate said: "Sun enterprises sent a legal notice to Hrithik Roshan for which Hrithik Roshan replied stating that now he has no power over the company or the brand and he denies that he is not the brand ambassador. Later, he requested us to approach the concerned company. Again,we approached Extreme company by way of legal notice and they denied their liability and they re-rooted us to approach other marketing agencies to get back our amount."
After this, the complainant approached the police and later the court to fight the case. "We approached the police and filed a complaint one year ago. But they refused to look into the complaint. We approached the Egmore court and we filed private complaint under Section 156 sub clause 3 seeking direction to direct the respondents to register a case against the accused. based on merits, the magistrate directed respondents to register a complaint against 9 accused in the matter including Hrithik Roshan under section 420 of IPL. But one year passed after the order was issued, we approached magistrate court and filed a contempt petition against the Inspector of police. It was only after that did the police file an FIR against the 9 respondents," added Ganesh.
The complainant, however, maintains that the police has still not started investigating the case.
