Adah Sharma has been busy experimenting with her work, which has proved to be successful. She started off her journey as an actress about 16 years back and has been a part of films like 1920 and Hasee Toh Phasee. In 2023, she belted out a hit with The Kerala Story. Now, the nationwide beauty has decided to showcase her versatility by signing up for a Telugu psychological thriller titled C.D (Criminal Or Devil).
The film, CD (Criminal or Devil) is directed by Krishna Annam and produced under the SSCM Productions banner. Giridhar acted as the executive producer of this film. The film stars Adah Sharma, Viswant Duddumpudi, Mahesh Vitta, and Bharani Shankar in important roles. While A. Muddu Krishna penned the film, the music composition was headlined by RR Dhrivan.
The story is about Siddhu (Viswant), a young boy afraid of ghosts. When his parents go out of town for a while, he watches a horror flick- Devil and is terrified. At the same time, there is a psycho killer at loose- Raksha (Adah) who kidnaps girls. Meanwhile, Raksha comes looking for Siddhu. What is the connection between the two and who is kidnapping the girls forms the premise of the story.
Krishna Annam has introduced the elements of horror, suspense, comedy and thriller in this film. The title matches the storyline. The final twist in the story is unprecedented. The first half had a few filler scenes, but then the narrative shifted by the second half and drove the viewers to the edge of their seats. The director successfully manages to keep the audience wondering and feeling scared. The second half surely makes up for the film as the plot thickens and it leads to the revelation of truth. There were a few romantic scenes between the hero, but despite that, the director evoked horror. Adah Sharma’s spine-tingling performance demands applause. A viewer will be constantly engaged with the plot and the actors and won’t get bored for a second.
Apart from the stellar acting, tight script and good direction, the background music tied everything together. The apt and haunting music further intensified the emotions of the viewers and made a few of the scenes scarier. The editing and cinematography were okay. Adah Sharma’s acting chops in the horror thriller Raksha was incredible. Overall, it is a thrilling film which will garner a few laughs and scare you.
