Amy Schumer, the star of the comedy drama Life and Beth, recently made headlines, not for the show, but due to the noticeable change in her appearance. Following her appearances on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and The View, her puffy face became the center of attention. The actress took to social media to address the speculations. A viral clip from her chat show appearances triggered various reactions from fans, as some were concerned about her changed appearance, while others trolled her. Schumer, however, responded with sarcasm on Instagram and thanked those who shared their opinions about her face. Amidst the chatter, she bravely opened up about her ongoing battle with endometriosis and highlighted that she still feels strong and beautiful despite the health challenges.
Talking about the same, she wrote, “Thank you so much for everyone’s input about my face. I’ve enjoyed feedback and deliberation about my appearance as all women do for almost 20 years and you’re right it is puffier than normal right now. I have endometriosis, an autoimmune disease that every woman should read about. There are some medical and hormonal things going on in my world right now but I’m okay. Historically women’s bodies have barely been studied medically compared to men. The book ‘all in her head’ does a good job explaining this. I also believe a woman doesn’t need any excuse for her physical appearance and owes no explanation. But I wanted to take the opportunity to advocate for self-love and acceptance of the skin you’re in.”
Amy Schumer further shared that, like any other person, she experiences fluctuating confidence levels. Some days, she feels confident and fantastic, while on other days, she feels less confident. Despite the comments about her face, Schumer highlighted feeling strong and beautiful, expressing pride in the TV show she created, wrote, acted and directed, Life & Beth. In her post, she redirected the focus towards her achievements rather than her appearance. Schumer joked that despite having backup dancers during her appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, her face became the headline.
