Dafne Keen, who gained popularity as X-23 in the Marvel action film Logan, is starring as Jecki Lon, a young Padawan of Sol who is half-human and half-Theelin, in Star Wars: The Acolyte. The mystery series, which has a two-episode debut approaching, will present the High Republic, a previously uncharted live-action era of Star Wars. In the first teaser for the show, fighters in the forest display their lightsabers in defiance of an unseen enemy. However, during an interview with ComicBook, Keen described how she kept accidentally breaking the prop lightsabers during fight sequences.

In the interview, Keen said, “Well, first of all, I broke at least five lightsabers on my first day, because I’d hit them really hard in the lead.”

Keen continued, expressing fear that she would be “fired” and concern about the money she had cost Disney due to her mishandling of prop lightsabers.

She claimed that when AD stared at her with “disappointment,” she experienced a heightened “sense of shame.”

“They just look at me and they’d be like, ‘Dafne broke another saber.'”

She admitted to ComicBook that she felt embarrassed, despite the crew’s assurances.

She revealed to the news organisation that, due to her “short” height, her saber would frequently strike the ground when spun.

She mentioned that she was then provided with a “shorter saber”.

And everyone was reportedly like, “Oh, cute.”

In an interview with Empire Magazine, Keen said that although a lightsaber should ideally strike the waist, because she was five feet two inches tall, hers struck her chest. It looked silly, according to her.

As a result, she received a custom-made, shorter lightsaber blade.

Disney Plus’s next six-part series The Acolyte is scheduled to air in two episodes on June 4. This will mark the era’s first live-action debut.

The Acolyte, which takes place around a century before the events of Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace, follows revered Jedi Master Sol (played by Lee Jung-Jae of Squid Game) as he looks into a series of killings.

The course of the investigation soon shows the existence of a dark, sinister power that may jeopardise the Jedi Order’s balance.
