Karan Johar To Make OTT Directorial Debut With 'Big-Budget' Web Series Starring 'Renowned' Actresses: Report
As per reports, this series will be a collaboration with Netflix.

Karan Johar is all set to follow Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s footsteps and direct a big-budget web series for Netflix. New reports claim that Karan Johar will make his OTT directorial debut soon. Karan Johar’s directorial prowess has already been proven over the years with projects like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Kabhie Alvida Na Kehna, My Name Is Khan, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. Fans are now excited to see what Karan brings to OTT.

Pinkvilla quoted a source as saying, “After collaborating with Sanjay Leela Bhansali on HeeraMandi, this Karan Johar directorial is the next marquee project in Netflix’s repertoire. Karan will be the showrunner for this yet-untitled web series. The script is locked and the vision is to take it on the floor in the first quarter of 2025.” The source also mentioned that it will be a female-led project in terms of the star cast.

“The web series now begins its casting stage and the idea is to bring together an ensemble of renowned actors. Being a Karan Johar show, the web series is considered to be Netflix’s most ambitious upcoming project. It will be shot throughout 2025 and is set to stream in 2026,” the source added.

Meanwhile, Karan Johar is preparing for the release of Jigra. Karan has co-produced the project with Alia Bhatt. Karan and Alia are currently promoting Jigra. They will soon be seen on The Great Indian Kapil Show with Vedang Raina.

As for Jigra, last year, Alia Bhatt talked about Jigra and opened up about its plot. She had revealed that the film is a story of ‘courage, passion and determination’. “Just a little over a year later, we are ready to launch our second production – Jigra, a beautiful story of courage, passion and determination. I hope to consistently support compelling narratives that are authentic, and enduringly timeless and work with brilliant creative minds to bring them alive,” Alia added.

It was also recently revealed that the actress had to learn basketball for the film. As reported by E-Times, Alia Bhatt has several scenes in Jigra in which she will be seen playing basketball and therefore, to make it look authentic, director Vasan Bala assigned a coach to her.
