Actor Kevin Spacey will soon appear in director Massimo Paolucci’s upcoming thriller film, ‘The Contract’. The Oscar-winning actor will play a character named ‘The Devil’. Spacey had arrived in Rome back in December to shoot the film. As per Variety, the film’s principal photography has concluded. The film also stars veteran actors Eric Roberts and Vincent Spano. While the plot of the film is under wraps, as per Cinecittà News the film is inspired by Alan Parker’s 1987 supernatural thriller Angel Heart and Taylor Hackford’s 1997 film The Devil’s Advocate. ‘The Contract’ is produced by Massimiliano Caroletti and Sandro Lazzerini.

The other films directed by Massimo Paolucci include the action film All in One Day which streams on Prime Video in Italy. He also made a horror film The Medium and a slasher film Photoshock. Paolucci worked as a line producer on Dario Argento’s Dracula 3D.

Spacey’s career took a hit when multiple people accused him of sexual harassment in 2017. As per USA Today, 15 people came forward with accusations ranging from sexual harassment to attempted rape. Following these serious accusations, Netflix cut ties with the actor and shelved his lead role in the biopic of writer Gore Vidal. He was removed from the last season of the superhit show House of Cards. Additionally, Spacey’s scenes from Ridley Scott’s film All the Money in the World (2017) were re-shot with actor Christopher Plummer instead.

In July 2023, he was acquitted of ‘seven counts of sexual assault and two counts of other serious sexual offences’ by the UK court. The charges were based on testimonies of four men who said that Spacey sexually assaulted them between 2001 and 2013. Spacey got acquitted on the day of his 64th birthday.

While speaking to the media outside the courtroom, he thanked the jury and said, “I would like to say that I’m enormously grateful to the jury for having taken the time to examine all of the evidence and all of the facts, carefully, before they reached their decision. And I am humbled by the outcome today. I also want to thank the staff inside this courthouse, the security, and all those who took care of us every single day, my legal team for being here every day.”

After his acquittal in 2017, Spacey has done two films: Peter Five Eight and Control. While Control, an action thriller, was released in 2023, Peter Five Eight is expected to release in March this year. The Contract will be Spacey’s third film since his acquittal.
