Director-actor V Ravichandran who directed the classic Premaloka (1987) is now gearing up to create history once again with Premaloka 2. The film is currently in the scripting stage and will feature his elder son, Manoranjan Ravichandran in the lead role.
Meanwhile, the female lead is taking centre stage. Though there is no official announcement from the team yet, sources suggest that Teju Ashwini could be the face of Premaloka 2.
Dancer and choreographer Teju Ashwini gained fame with a role in the serial Kalyana Samayal Sadham and has made a name for himself in Tamil cinema with films like Enna Solla Pogirai, Moondram Kan and Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kaadhal.
According to reports, Teju has been in and out of Bengaluru for the past six months and has been spotted in talks with the team of Premaloka 2. She has also been seen with the lead actor Manoranjan a couple of times and recently there was talk that he might introduce her to some close friends from the film industry as the heroine for Premaloka 2. While fans await an official confirmation from the team, they are excited to see if Teju will make her Kannada debut with the film.
While keeping the plot and other details under wraps, Ravichandran announced at a recent event that Premaloka 2 will officially be released on his birthday on May 30 next year and the film will have 25 songs.
Premaloka is considered a milestone in the Kannada film industry for several reasons. Not only did it become the biggest blockbuster, but it also introduced actor V Ravichandran as the director. It was produced by Sri Eshwari Productions owned by his father Veeraswamy, who was a popular and well-known filmmaker at the time.
Besides that, Premaloka is known for introducing music director Hamsalekha to the industry and laying the foundation for his successful career as a music composer. The film was released in both Kannada and Tamil and featured an impressive eleven songs. Premaloka starred Ravichandran and Juhi Chawla in the lead roles. Apart from them, the film had a long list of senior actors, including several stars who were seen in special cameos.
