The artist behind this remarkable painting is Karthik, a third-year computer science student at Sivakasi Government College of Art and Science in Tamil Nadu. His fascination with art led him to explore sunlight painting, starting with drawing the Tesla logo for amusement, which garnered significant acclaim. Encouraged by the response, Karthik proceeded to create various portraits of actors, including the recent portrayal of Vijay using sunlight art.
Karthik showcases his creations on social media platforms, attracting attention and garnering orders for his unique artwork. His talent received special recognition from Vijayakanth’s son, further motivating him to pursue his passion.
Sunlight painting, a meticulous process, involves placing a wooden board in sunlight and using a magnifying glass to focus the sunlight onto the board, gradually blackening it to create the desired image.
In a recent media interaction, Karthik shed light on the challenges of sunlight art, emphasizing the lack of room for error compared to traditional paper-based drawing. Moreover, the process demands patience and endurance, with artists enduring physical fatigue and discomfort from prolonged exposure to the sun.
While sunlight painting remains a relatively rare art form in Asia, Karthik’s talent adds to its growing recognition. Previously, Vignesh from Mayiladuthurai district in Tamil Nadu gained appreciation for his proficiency in sunlight painting.
Meanwhile, Thalapathy Vijay is occupied with the shooting of his upcoming film GOAT or The Greatest of All Time. The shooting recently took place in Puducherry, drawing a large crowd of eager fans hoping to catch a glimpse of the star, albeit with no success.
