Pankaj Udhas Death: Ghazal Icon's Last Instagram Post Was Diwali Wish For Fans, See Here
Late Ghazal icon Pankaj Udhas had wished his fans on the special occasion of Diwali 2023.

Pankaj Udhas has passed away. The legendary singer was 72 years old. The news was shared by his family. In a statement, they said, “With a very heavy heart, we are saddened to inform you of the sad demise of Padmashri Pankaj Udhar on February 26, 2024, due to a prolonged illness.” The news has come as a shock to many. Singer Sonu Nigam was among the first ones to react to his death. The celebrated Ghazal singer was also quite active on social media and would often share videos and pictures on Instagram. His last post was three months ago.

Extending wishes to his fans on Diwali, Pankaj Udhas had shared a poster on Instagram along with the caption, “May the festival of lights bring you new hopes and new dreams. May the divine light of Diwali illuminate your life and banish all darkness. Wishing you a prosperous and healthy Diwali.May the festival of lights bring you peace and joy. Wishing you a Diwali filled with sweet treats and good memories.”

Pankaj Udhas was born on May 17, 1951, in Jetpur, Gujarat. He began his career by releasing a ghazal album named Aahat in 1980. Soon, he became synonym with ghazal music in India. In Bollywood, the ghazal singer sang the iconic track Chitthi Aayee Hai, for Sanjay Dutt’s film Naam. The film was directed by Mahesh Bhatt. The song became a rage and left everyone in tears.

Pankaj released several albums and hosted many live concerts over the years which amplified his popularity. Pankaj Udhas was honoured with India’s fourth highest civilian award, the Padma Shri.

Taking to his Instagram account, Sonu wrote, “One of the most important part of my childhood, is lost today. Shri Pankaj Udhas ji, I will miss you forever. My heart cries knowing that you are no more. Thank you for being there. Om Shanti.” Sanjay Gupta also offered his condolences as well. “Heart breaking. Pankaj Udhas Ji has passed away. May his soul rest in peace. Thank you for the music,” he wrote.
