Singer Chinmayi Sripada, who welcomed twins Driptah and Sharvas back in June, recently took to Instagram to share her “only mirror selfie” from when she was 32 weeks pregnant. Not posting photos led to the speculation that she might have opted for surrogacy. Debunking the ongoing rumours, Chinmayi Shripada stated that she has a “little bit of regret about not taking more photographs” during pregnancy.
Explaining that she prioritized her mental health, Sripada stated that she asked the media to respect her privacy. She added, “I was still showing up at dubbing, and recordings and telling people not to take any photographs, and completely respect my privacy. I even had a press meeting around the time, and even then the press was really respectful.” In a video addressing the surrogacy rumours, Sripada stated that she has been constantly bugged by questions if she welcomed her babies via surrogacy or IVF.
The singer believes that a mother is a mother and “as far as these constant questions about surrogacy (are concerned), it really doesn’t matter if someone has a baby through surrogacy or IUI (Intrauterine insemination) or IVF (In vitro fertilization) or normally. A mother is a mother, whether it is a human or a pet parent. So, I really don’t care if people think I had babies through surrogacy, it is up to them to assume whatever they want. Their opinion of me is not my problem.”
In a subsequent post, Sripada also opened up about her miscarriage that happened 2 years ago. Just a week after the miscarriage, the singer performed at a concert keeping it all bottled up inside. She added, “This photo from November 2020 was 5-6 days after my miscarriage. I went and performed. I sat down on a chair and sang at a concert. I only said I had a minor surgical procedure and wouldn’t be able to stand and sing but even in my own admission I gave a cracker of performance and found joy in my singing, after days of continuous crying. But looking at this photo – you’d never have known – because I didn’t tell you. Therefore – remember to be kind, don’t speculate.”
The singer married actor Rahul Ravindra, who were friends and colleagues, for a brief period before dating each other. The duo tied the knot back in May 2014.
