A passenger died after getting stuck between an approaching train and the platform at Delhi Metro’s Qutab Minar station.
The passenger tried to cross the platform via tracks rather than taking the stairs when the incident took place on November 12. The step left him crushed between the platform edge and the train, said the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).
The train operator immediately applied the emergency brakes and the passenger was promptly rescued. The person was rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead. His body was later sent to the AIIMS Trauma Centre Mortuary, said a senior police officer.

He was wearing a yellow shirt and blue jeans and “SUNIL” was tattooed on the right forearm. The post-mortem of the “unidentified” body was conducted on November 23. Blood samples have been taken to find whether the man was intoxicated. His teeth have been preserved for identification purpose, the officer added.
After the incident, DMRC released an advisory for the passengers advising them not to cross or walk on the metro tracks or enter restricted areas on the stations.
A few months back, a man was seen striking an elderly individual with force inside the metro, though the exact reason remains unspecified. Soon, onlookers intervened to remove the senior citizen from harm’s way, pushing the aggressor to the other side of the seats and confronting him vigorously.
While the motive behind the altercation remains a mystery, the fellow passengers rallied behind the elderly man and handed out a taste of their own justice to the younger aggressor.
