Yamaha has used the ongoing MotoGP Bharat to promote its new R3 and MT-03 motorcycles, which are set to be released in December 2023.
At the motorsports event on Sunday, September 24, the Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer displayed both sub-400cc options in the brand’s characteristic Racing Blue hue. The Yamaha R3 is a completely faired sportsbike, the MT-03 is a naked streetfighter.
According to Autocar India, the R3 has not been sold in the country since the BS6 emissions standards were introduced in early 2020. Yamaha is reintroducing its parallel twin sport bike, which will be accompanied by its street bike brother, the MT-03. Additionally, both the Yamaha R3 and MT-03 will be sold through the company’s premium Blue Square dealer network, reports add.
The Yamaha R3 and MT-03 are two highly awaited motorcycles from the Japanese manufacturer. Both the Yamaha R3 and the MT-03 are modelled after their larger supersport and naked streetfighter siblings, respectively. The new Yamaha R3 borrows design cues from the company’s larger supersport models, such as the R7 and R1. The low-set clip-on handlebars and rear-set footpegs give the fully-faired bike an aggressive appearance.
In addition, the Yamaha MT-03, which serves as the R3’s naked counterpart, borrows stylistic influences from larger models like as the MT-07 and MT-09. It has a twin-LED headlamp, a hefty apron, and an aggressive overall posture.
Yamaha R3 and MT-03: Performance And Style
Both bikes, according to Yamaha, provide redefined performance and flair in their respective categories, as well as cutting-edge features and design aspects. The Yamaha R3 and MT-03 both have KYB upside-down front forks with 130 mm travel, a rear monoshock with 125 mm travel, 298 mm front disc brakes and 220 mm rear disc brakes with dual-channel ABS. Furthermore, both motorcycles also have design aspects and features in common, such as dual LED headlights, LED indicators, LED taillamps, LCD instrument clusters, and so on.
Both the Yamaha R3 and the MT-03 are mechanically similar. Both sporty motorcycles are powered by the same 321 c twin-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. The engine has a peak power of 41.4 horsepower and a maximum torque of 29.6 Nm. The engine is coupled to a six-speed automatic gearbox with a slip and assist clutch.
When it is released, the Yamaha R3 will compete against rivals such as the TVS Apache RR 310, BMW G 310 RR, Kawasaki Ninja 300, and KTM RC 390. The Yamaha MT-03, on the other hand, will compete with models like as the TVS Apache RTR 310 R, BMW G 310 R, and KTM 390 Duke.
