Hyderabad: Non-gazetted government employees from the Seemandhra region are on a day-long strike opposing the creation of Telangana on Monday. On Sunday, some Seemandhra protestors who tried to stop trains were arrested.
The anti-statehood protestors shouted slogans condemning Congress President Sonia Gandhi and TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao for the Telangana decision. The railway police have beefed up security to avoid any untoward incident.
The agitators squatted on the railway track and raised slogans demanding resignations of public representatives and ministers hailing from Seemandhra regions to bring pressure on Congress government at Centre to rescind its decision on creation of Telangana. They relented only after passengers from the held up trains requested them.
