New Delhi: Trinamool Congress chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday met Finance Minister P Chidambaram to discuss her state's financial needs. West Bengal is currently under huge debt and Mamata has been demanding a special financial package for the state for long.
Emerging from the meet, Mamata said that while no package had yet been assured, the state government would continue holding talks with the Centre.
"We discussed on the state's finances. These discussions are a continuous process. We will be sending our state Finance Minister soon for another meeting," she said.
Furthermore, the Trinamool Congress chief reiterated her party's stand on FDI in retail, saying her party was not in favour of it.
"We stand by what we said earlier. We are not in favour of FDI in retail of aviation," she said.
The West Bengal CM further said that she also discussed fertiliser price hike and state highways with the minister.
"I apprised the Finance Minister that we need to take serious decision on the fertiliser price hike as it is affecting the farmers. We also discussed the state of national highways," she said.
