Bhopal: Bhopal legislator and Dhruv Narayan Singh, who is believed to have known murdered RTI activist Shehla Masood, has offered to resign as vice president of the Bharatiya Janata Party's Madhya Pradesh unit, sources said on Tuesday.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) which is investigating Masood's murder, has quizzed the legislator several times and will soon conduct a lie-detector test on him.
The premier agency in its investigation so far has not only found Singh was "friends" with Masood but "very close" to prime accused Zahida Parvez, arrested by CBI for conspiring in the killing.
Singh wrote to state party president Prabhat Jha and told him to relieve him from the post till he is cleared by the investigative agency.
Masood was killed on August 16 last year near her house. Along with Zahida, her friend Saba Farooqui, city based criminal Shaqib 'Danger' and Kanpur's shooter Irfan Ali have also been arrested.
It is expected that Singh will undergo a polygraph test on Wednesday in Delhi.
