Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Monday sought a probe by a sitting Supreme Court Judge in all land deals of the Vadra family, especially in the Congress ruled states of Haryana and Rajasthan. "Daily new revelation of land deals linked to the Vadra family makes it imperative for such a probe," he said after laying the foundation stones of development works worth Rs 600 crore in Mansa.
"Robert Vadra exploited his position and a probe was needed to ascertain how his wealth grew from a few lakhs to thousands of crores without any investment," he said. Badal said it was imperative for UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to come clean on this and order an enquiry by a sitting Supreme Court Judge to bring the truth to the fore.
Responding to a question on PPCC chief Partap Singh Bajwa's statement that Congress would knock the doors of Punjab and Haryana High Court for closure of Sangat Darshan programmes by the Chief Minister, he said the Congress leadership was adamant in misleading people on the SAD-BJP government's development initiative.
On the issue of halted mining operations in the state, Badal alleged the Congress-led UPA government was deliberately creating scarcity of sand and gravels and artificially increasing the rates.
