Apple Intelligence On iPhones Won’t Be Free Forever And We Already Knew That
Apple Intelligence On iPhones Won’t Be Free Forever And We Already Knew That
Apple is bringing iOS 18 later this year that will offer artificial intelligence in a new avatar that promises on-device privacy and security.

Apple showcased its AI might and plans at the WWDC 2024 earlier this year which will be available in some form with the iPhone 16 series launch. The company mentioned that you would need to have the Rs 1 lakh+ iPhone 15 Pro model or higher to use its Apple Intelligence tech features and most have taken it for granted that the features will be available for free.

New media report says Apple will have a Plus version of the AI that will offer premium features that will come at a cost. Apple has shown us that the hardware upgrades are getting incremental by the year, so its focus on the software and AI mostly will show its future growth path. The Bloomberg report mentions the Apple Intelligence Plus model becoming prominent in the next few years, and its A-series chipset will be powering the AI technology to keep these features ticking.

AI Gives Apple The Moolah

Apple sees the iPhone upgrade as a clear gateway to bring more people on board to the AI wagon. However, the company knows that people aren’t going to buy iPhones every year. So, the best way to keep the coffers filling is to have a monthly premium model like the Apple TV+, Apple Music and more. Google has done something similar with its AI Google One plan that costs over Rs 1000 per month.

Apple could easily command a similar fee if it manages to convince people that its AI offerings are more premium and also safer than the competition. The recurring nature of these services will tempt Apple to keep innovating and add new layers of features that keep rivals on their toes.

No wonder Google decided to prepone its Pixel 9 series launch to August this year, a month before Apple gets to officially release the new iPhone 16 models and the AI features. Apple also has the Macs lined up for later this year that will take on Microsoft and Qualcomm in the PC segment.
