A social media influencer recently recounted his brush with death following the ingestion of frog toxin. During this ordeal, he perceived vivid, kaleidoscopic alien serpents attempting to disconnect him from his physical form. Dakota Wint, a prominent figure in social media, provides a detailed narrative of his hallucinogenic voyage after partaking in ‘speed-toading,’ a growing global phenomenon. “I consumed toad toxin and believed my death was imminent," he shared in a video posted on his YouTube channel, Dakota of Earth.
Dakota explained that he was attending a spiritual retreat in Mexico when he decided to try the psychedelic toad medicines traditionally used by indigenous communities for medicinal purposes. Known as bufo alvarius, this practice has gained significant popularity in Tulum, Mexico, with tourists flocking to partake in the experience for around Rs 20,000.
The substance can be ingested by licking the back of the poisonous amphibian, but it’s now more commonly consumed in a smokable “dust" form. The liquid is extracted by milking the toad’s venom glands and then dehydrated into a dry, crumbly paste. While touted as a “miracle cure" for modern ailments such as anxiety and depression, it’s more potent than other psychedelics and carries substantial risks, including the possibility of persistent psychosis.
Dakota said the experience was so scary he does not want to do it again. He likened the experience to taking a hard baseball bat hit to the face. He said, “Being ripped out of your body and laying on cosmic operation tables having kaleidoscopic alien reptiles pulling energy out of your body – it’s an intense experience to go through."
Following the inhalation of the venom, Dakota described his exhale experience as akin to witnessing the world tremble."Then, in an instant, you break through and find yourself in this realm…brimming with acceptance, forgiveness, and love. I returned with a smile on my face and laughter in my heart, having comprehended the essence of existence," he says in his YouTube video which has been watched almost half a million times and has thousands of comments.
