Farting is nothing but a biological process. But it can become a cause of embarrassment when you are in a public place. Recently, a veteran Canadian actress, Marilyn Smith, revealed the benefits of a “fart walk” via an Instagram post. The name of the post-meal exercise may look bizarre, but, according to Smith, it aids in “ageing wonderfully”.
Her video quickly went viral, making ‘fart walk’ a new health trend across social media platforms. Smith shared that she and her husband go on a ten to twenty-minute walk after dinner every night. “So why do we do that? We eat a lot of fibre so we have gas. You form it when you walk,” she was heard saying in the video.

As per Marilyn Smith, apart from reducing the chance of frequent stomach issues, regular fart walks will provide people with long-term health benefits. “The main reason why we do fart walk is that it reduces the chance of Type-2 diabetes,” she explained.
Smith further claimed that this disease is quite common among people aged over 40. As walking helps maintain the blood sugar level, a stroll of 15-20 minutes after dinner can certainly be counted as a good habit.
Before signing off, Marilyn Smith asked her followers to make “fart walk” a trend on social media and recognised herself as its “inventor”. “You do it on a regular basis, it can make a big impact on your long-term health. So, sign yourself up for fart walks,” she said at the end of her video.
“The walk can be anywhere between 2-20 minutes. It’s the physical action of moving that increases the glucose uptake from your blood into your muscles which reduces how much insulin your body needs to produce,” Smith wrote in the caption.
The video has accumulated more than 13 crore views on Instagram and many users have shown a thumbs-up to the concept of fart walk. “This is such an amazing idea. I loved it,” admitted a viewer. Another enthusiastic user wrote, “Ma’am you had me at fart walk.” A person suggested that Marilyn Smith should “sell shirts that say on the back– ‘On my fart walk’.”
