WWE NXT action moved to Toronto on July 7 for the developmental brand’s premium live event Heatwave. The show’s match card featured a pre-show clash followed by five championship fights. Oba Femi defended his NXT North American Championship against Wes Lee whereas Kelani Jordan retained her title in the women’s clash. In tag-team action, the fans witnessed Axiom and Nathan Frazer defend their crowns against Chase U. The last two fights of the show saw Roxanne Perez dominate Lola Vice in the NXT Women’s Championship match while Ethan Page beat four other contenders to win the men’s title.
Karmen Petrovic and Arianna Grace win Heatwave pre-show
Arianna Grace and Karmen Petrovic fought against Jacy Jayne and Jazmyn Nyx to kick off NXT Heatwave. The match began with Jayne forcing Grace into the corner who countered with an arm drag. Nyx tagged in but couldn’t take advantage of Grace. Eventually, Grace makes the tag, allowing Petrovic to land the jumping knee Hart Attack. Jazmyn broke it up before attempting the O’Connor roll. Petrovic countered with another roll-up for a pinfall win.
Roxanne Perez retained the NXT Women’s title
The penultimate match of NXT Heatwave saw Roxanne Perez lay down her women’s title against Lola Vice. After exchanging some blows in the ring, Perez cleared the commentary desk before hitting Vice with a Pop Rox on it. Vice kicked out leading to Perez locking in a cross-face. After Vice managed to force a break by reaching the ropes, Perez landed a series of Pop Rox to retain the women’s title.
Ethan Page becomes WWE NXT Champion!
Within less than two months of joining the WWE’s development brand as a part of the official roster, Ethan Page won the NXT Men’s title at Heatwave last week. He had already lost one title match against Trick Williams the previous month but Page remained focused in the five-man title match at Heatwave. During the main event of the premium live event, Williams landed the Trick Shot on both Page and Je’Von Evans. Just then Williams was pulled out of the ring by Shawn Spears, allowing Page to just fall on top of Evans for the victory.

Arianna Grace and Karmen Petrovic vs Jacy Jayne and Jazmyn Nyx – Petrovic used the O’Connor Roll on Nyx to seal a pinfall victory.
Oba Femi (c) vs Wes Lee for the NXT North American Championship – Femi won by pinfall using a Pop-up Powerbomb to retain his title.
Kelani Jordan (c) vs Sol Ruca NXT Women’s North American Championship – Jordan won the match using a Split-legged Moonsault to retain her championship.
Axiom and Nathan Frazer (c) vs Chase U for the NXT Tag Team Championship – Axiom hit Andre Chase with the Golden Ration to retain the Tag Team Championship.
Lola Vice vs Roxanne Perez for NXT Women’s Championship – Perez beat Vice by pinfall using the Pop Rox to retain her title.
‘All Ego’ Ethan Page vs Je’Von Evans vs Shawn Spears vs Trick Williams (c) for NXT Women’s Championship – Ethan Page won by pinfall using a lateral press to become the new NXT Champion!
