Ganguly first joined the franchise in 2019 as a mentor and worked with head coach Ricky Ponting. After keeping the position for one more season, he left the franchise to assume the role of President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
After his term as president ended, Ganguly was reunited with DC again ahead of the 2023 IPL edition when they roped him as the Director of Cricket.
Ganguly was in the dugout when Delhi Capitals’ Women’s Premier League team, under the captaincy of Meg Lanning, finished the inaugural WPL season as the runners-up.
They have dominated the current season as well to secure a place in the final for the second successive time.
DC are hopeful to make a strong statement in IPL 2024 with their captain Rishabh Pant set for a comeback after missing the last season. The Indian wicketkeeper-batter has been out of professional cricket for over one year due to injuries sustained in a car accident in December 2022. In their season opener, DC will clash against Punjab Kings on March 23.
