Founder and CEO of an ed-tech unicorn Physics Wallah, Alakh Pandey, who had failed the IIT entrance exam today helps students prepare for this difficult exam. Every year lakhs of students appear for exams like IIT-JEE, CAT, and UPSC, but not everyone gets success in these difficult exams. However, it is not that the failed students are not very talented or they cannot crack these exams. Alakh Pandey is one of those students who has set an example for such students.

Born and brought up in Allahabad (now Prayagraj), Uttar Pradesh, Pandey dreamt of pursuing acting and used to take an active part in local dramas while growing up. However, given the financial condition, Pandey started to take the tuition of the Class 8 students. Also known as the ‘Physics guy’, Pandey was unable to crack JEE and get a good score. He later took admission to Kanpur’s Harcourt Butler College but he left the college without taking a B.Tech degree and entered the teaching profession.

Since Alakh Pandey entered the education sector in the digital era, and instead of taking classes in college as a professor, he started a YouTube channel and taught students through it. While his first earning was only Rs 5,000, which he received as tuition fees, he later went on to build a company worth Rs 9100 crore.

Alakh Pandey is one of the richest young entrepreneurs coming out of Uttar Pradesh today. His firm Physics Wallah now has 61 YouTube channels with over 31 million users. According to a report by DNA India, Pandey’s net worth stands over Rs 2,000 crore which makes him the richest teacher in India.

In 2016, Alakh Pandey started making YouTube videos to teach underprivileged kids. During the coronavirus pandemic, his videos garnered major attention from the public. Now the ed-tech company has a total of over 500 teachers and 100 technical personnel.
